Off first glance, my art appears to be more intellectually considered, focusing on the aesthetic qualities rather than any underlying, emotional circumstance; but upon further investigation, one gets the sense that there is more going on than meets the eye. This illusion of emotional disengagement is created by the incorporation of universal imagery, chosen because they elicit no particular emotional response from the general consensus, but to me, connect on a very personal and intimate level. Many criticize the fact that by doing so, I am building a wall between myself and the viewer, denying them any insight into my emotional psyche. But to me, this type of artistic expression serves as an intuitive self portrait, illustrating resistance to express personal or intimate thoughts for the public's scrutiny."
